Brine Shrimp
The most interesting and my favorite experiment in science was the Brine Shrimp (Sea Monkeys) because in all the schools Ive been to Ive never actually been able to grow and raise a real living creature.
We were trying to find out the range of tolerance and optimum salt conditions for brine shrimp to grow in. To answer this question we had to set up an experiment. The experiment consisted of three bowls all the same size with brine shrimp eggs in them, also each bowl was filled with 150ml of water. Over the next few days we observed them.
We found, in the end 0 spoons didn’t grow, 2 spoons grew quite well, 4 spoons grew the best and 6 spoons didn’t grow. The optimum amount of salt was four spoons. The range of tolerance for the brine shrimp was two to four spoons of salt. But unforunately when the experiment was over all the brine shrimp died!!! (Sad isn’t it).

My favourite science experiment was the terrarium one. It was my favourite because we got to grow plants and it was fun to plant them and watch them grow and putting the soil and rocks in and put the water in. The thing I didn’t like about it was that we had to write the observations. It was to bad that our group’s died. I think that we put too much water. So because of that we had to restart. Our group’s terrarium was doing great until we had to take the top of so the plants wouldn’t scrunch up. Since that happened our terrarium isn’t doing so well (Sad, I know).
We grew barley, pea, radish, corn, and clover. All of them grew except for barley. I think it didn’t grow because the heat in Thailand is so hot. I think barley is good in cold weather but not too cold. If it were colder in Thailand I think they could have survived.
This was a really good experiment, if YOU get the chance to do it, try it.

Hello everybody it’s Juliana and you’ve might of read my other blogs and this is my blog post about Snow Leopards (and there such cute wild animals besides cats in my opinion). So I hope you all enjoy reading my blog post about Snow Leopards. I’ve got the information from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_Leopard
The Snow Leopard lives in rugged mountain ranges found in central and south Asia and the mountains approximately is 1,230,000 square kilometers which extends through 12 countries! and they are India, Afgahnistan, Buthan, China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajistan, and Uzbekistan. Snow leopards are solitary animals and they are carnivores. However there size is smaller than other ‘big cats’ there description: They weigh between 27- 54 kg there body lengths reach between 74- 130cm. Snow leopards have such big furs there fur color is grayish and yellowish and tan fur ears are round but not really round but on the tips of the ears there round. They have black spots but have larger spots on there cute fat fluffy tails
.
Snow leopards like I said earlier are carnivores but Snow leopards they eat whatever meat they find! so they eat anything as long as it’s meat! they even eat domesticated farm stock! They are endangered animals.

Hi all
, this is Jacob giving you guys a list of my favorite moments in elementary school. To me elementary school was very fun and I am going to miss it. So here it is:
- In fourth grade my class had a Van Gogh cafe party and it was really fun, there was food and everything
.
- Also in fourth grade there was the Celebration Of Learning, it was where all of us sang songs and prepared for fifth grade.
- In fifth grade we had a trip to the Ancient City, it was really fun to go around and learn cool things.
I hope you agree with some of these things, if you don’t or have more then why don’t you comment on other favorite things you did in elementary school.See you later!

Hi! It’s Olivia.
Coming towards the end of 5th grade is pretty tough especially at an international school. Your best friend may be moving away or maybe you’re moving. But the biggest change is, after 5th grade it’s Middle School! And I don’t know about you, but I was a little worried.
Some worries may be the same as usual for the next year and some may be very different. Some usual worries may be, “What if I don’t make any friends?” or “What if I get a really mean teacher?” Some new worries may be, “What f I can’t get my locker opened?” or “What if I get hopelessly and completely lost in between classes?”
I had these worries and many more. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to take it. So I did some research. I read some books from a series called “How I Survived Middle School” and although the quality of the writing isn’t the best, the books gave me a confidence boost. After reading them I felt a little better. If you have any worries they are a pretty good source of information. The book series also has a website where you can get more information.
After reading the books I felt better but I was still wondering if all of the information given in the book was accurate. So I asked my friends older sister about it. She told me that Middle School isn’t such a big deal as people say it is. The only three major changes are you change teachers and classes, you have a locker, and there’s more homework. As long as you are responsible, finish your work, and keep organized you’ll be fine.
I hope that I helped with my tips. Do you have any tips or questions about Middle School? If you do, share them and you might find an answer or help someone else.

I came to ISB at August. First month is so hard because I can’t understand what teacher said, but Shunsuke is in my classroom. He can speak English little bit so that is so helpful to me.
Do you have problem of this kind?

My Science blog post -_- By Juliana
In my old school (since I didn’t spent much time in ISB) this semester and what I learned about in science from my ‘Old School’ (also known as Orchard Elementary School from Sylvan Union District web site is http://www.sylvan.k12.ca.us/orchard/). I learned about planets. And here is some part of what I learned about planets.
First we learned about the sun and that the Sun was mostly made of hydrogen we learned that the surface core temperature is 5,000 degrees Celsius. The inner core temperature is 15,000,000 degrees Celsius and that the sun gives life to almost every animal in the world. The age of the Sun is 4.6 billion years old!
Next we learned that the Sun is a star and that the sun is the biggest mass of body in the solar system. And that in which the Sun is a star well something happens inside these stars around the solar system. And that is called Nuclear Fusion. In nuclear fusion the nuclei of the atoms fuse together forming a larger nucleus and in that process lot’s of energy is produced and given off.
Next we learned about the cycle of stars. My class and me learned that the very start of a star is a Nebula then it turns into a protostar (and well whoever out there is reading my blog post these steps take a hecka’ long time to reach these steps). Then after that the protostar becomes a main sequence star. Then after that it turns into a red giant! So after a long time this is what happens it becomes another nebula but not just any nebula but a Planetary Nebula. And well it turns into a white dwarf (which are the little stars you see in the sky). And well then after a long time it just looses all it energy to perform Nuclear Fusion for itself well the heat and light dies off and it becomes a Black dwarf. And at the end it’s a tragic ending when a star goes ‘Boom’ and I don’t really think it’s necessary to tell what happens to the end because it I just a tragic ending for a star to go ‘boom’.
And now just right before I went to the ISB I learned about the about that Au means gold and so on and now for the conclusion. I have learned all these stuff in my old school Orchard Elementary in 5th grade by my teacher Mrs.Stone and please feel free and do not hesitate to type your opinions on my blog post and I hope you liked reading my science blog post. -. -

I have some awesome study habits for middle school (we’re going there next year) and I would like to share them to the world!
- Study buddy (sometimes it helps to have someone to motivate you)
- Notes (take them in class on an assignment and use them to help impress your teachers)
- Brain food (popcorn,fruit,cereal)
- Calender (write dates when things are due and when you think you should do them)
- Day early (if you have a big assignment them make sure your done a day early to be prepared)
- Post-its (in your text book put post-its where there is a key point or you have trouble remembering something)
- Be organized (pencil case, backpack, and locker not too messy)
- exercise (after half an hour of studying go outside and stretch your legs)
- communication (if your having trouble call a friend to ask what they think. or use number 1.)
- Computer (have a computer handy to search on google about something you don’t understand)
I hope these will help you later in life.

Hey, everyone! It’s Tamara again. Just wanted to tell you the advantages and disadvantages of Elementary school.
Advantages~
1: You never get in bad trouble- (Unless your in 5th grade)
2: You get an actual recess
3: Just having one teacher- (depends on who you are)
Disadvantages~
1: You don’t have any freedom- As in middle school you get a lot of it.
2:Not really trusted to do something big
(I like Elementary school, so there aren’t many disadvantages for me)

Cereal experiment
I’m going to talk about a science experiment we did in science class this semester. What we were trying to find out was , how much sugar do different types of cereal contain.
#1. What we did 1st was took three Ziploc bags and put 3 grams of different cereal in each bag. For example we put cheerios in on bag and koko crunch in another and so on.
#2. Next we took 2 spoons of yeast and put that in each bag (2 spoons per bag).
#3.Then we took a syringe filled with 50ml of water and put that in each bag (50ml per bag).
#4.then we mashed the cereal up.
#5.What we did next was filled a medium size container with water at 35-50 degrees Celsius.
#6.Then we put all 3 bags of cereal in the water for 10 min then we took one bag out at a time after 10 min and measured the amount of air that was in the bags, because (sugar+yeast=air) the more air there is means the more sugar there is.
#7.Then we put all the bags back in for another ten minutes and did the same thing. And that’s how we found out how much sugar different types of cereal hold.
The materials you need to do the experiment are:
· Water
· Yeast
· Water boiler
· Balancer
· 3-4 Ziploc bags
· Medium size container
· 3-4 different types of cereal(they can be the same type but should be a different brand )
