Fun and Annoying things to do
WARNING!!!! – When you suck in helium, don’t try to talk in a high pitch voice, talk normally.
WARNING!!!! – Don’t suck in too much helium. Max – half a balloon.
WARNING!!!! – Don’t suck helium right from the tank. Suck it out of a helium balloon.
Fun things to do when you suck in helium:
- Laugh. (You will actually laugh for real after that)
- Start beat boxing or rapping.
- Shout.
- Go down a slide or go on a swing so you scream.
- Tell jokes that you have never heard with a friend. (Funny jokes)
- Sing. (Better if you sing a song with low notes.)
DANGER!!!! – Don’t try too many at once.(or else you will be in serious trouble)
I found a youtube video of someone singing when they sucked in helium. Here is another video.
How to annoy your parents:
- When one of your parents is busy, keep saying mom, or dad over and over again, and when they finally say ‘what!’ say never mind. After that, do the whole thing over and over again.
- When they say you can’t do something keep begging them until they say yes.
- When they are helping you write sentences about or with a certain word, when they say ‘um….’ (they are thinking) write ‘um….’ and when they are finished saying the sentence, read it out to them with the um’s.
I will think of more over the summer and post them.

Pig Heart Dissection
Blood was dripping from the non-beating heart and it had the worst smell. We had to wear gloves and I was glad we had to because, why would someone want to touch a pigs heart? We stabbed the heart with scissors and started to cut around the outside. We could now see the inside, we also located the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, and left ventricle. A lot of blood was stored in the atriums. We pulled the atrium out and heard lots of veins and things snapping. We rolled the atrium around in our palms, and so much blood went on our gloves. It was fun and a bit gross.

This is a Picture of a pigs heart. In the middle you can see one of the atriums.
We also blew into the lungs, But we blew into a straw that went down the pigs esophagus, into the lungs. When we blew in, the lungs expanded.
Here is a picture of the lungs.

Hi, this is my realistic fiction story. It’s about a boy that moves and has no friends until he starts a book club.
The club that changed my life
By Matt
“Wake up Otis, we have to get ready for the big move, your dad is will be waiting for us outside, he just has to do some errands” shouted mom.
“Ohh Great” I sighed. It took me at least 10 minutes to get out of my bed and get changed. I went downstairs to find a smell of pancakes and syrup, “well, not every thing is bad about moving” I thought to myself. I ate breakfast and told my mom I was ready. Now it was time for the move, or as mom and dad call it “the big move.” Every second I was getting closer and closer or further and further. When we finally got aboard the plane I whispered to myself “Goodbye Nebraska, and thanks for being my best friend Skeeter and Reed, I am going to miss you.” I got comfortable and fell asleep.
“Otis, are you sure you have everything for school?” questioned mom
“Yes” I said for the hundredth time
“Ok, I will see you when you get home, and you don’t want to miss the bus so I suggest you go now” mom said
“Ok bye” I replied cheerfully.
1 Week later………………
“Mom, it’s so unfair, nobody wants to play with me. What is even worse is that I have to read, but reading is actually fun so… It is just not fair!” I shouted in anger. Mom said
“How about those kids that are in a book club, since you like books, huh? I said that they are losers and she came up with a good idea, she said,
“Why don’t you make your own book club and ask other people to join?” I replied happily
“That could work.” Then mom shouted
“Watcha waiting for, go to your room and plan it so tomorrow you can ask some people to join”
“Thanks mom” I replied. Then I ran up to my room so I did not waste any time, then I sat down and got started immediately. When it was time for dinner, mom reminded me that you need books to start a book club. And after a couple seconds on thinking she said
“I have a lot of books in the storage room, you can use them.” “Thanks again” I replied with a huge smile on my face.
The next day at school, I thought “How am I going to ask?”, staring at Brendon. “Maybe this was not such a good idea after all”, I am just going to walk past him and say “I wonder who I am going to ask to join my book club” and hope that he will hear it. Here I go. I walked past Brendon saying what I planned to say and miraculously he replied and said,
“Do you mind if I join that book club of yours?” and of course, my answer was
“Sure, why not”. I felt the slightest bit of confidence and power. I was so happy.
The next day every one was talking about my book club, except for the “cool group”. A few people asked me if they could join, now I have over 20 people that wanted to join, but sadly I could only have 8 or else the club would be too crowded and too loud. When I got home, I told mom that by the end of the day there were 35 people that wanted to join and she said wow, great for you. Then I said that only 8 could join and said “They all can, but you need another club, but of course you cant have two of your own, you will need to have another leader” “ok thanks again mom!”
The next day at school I asked Brendon if he could run his own book club (we have been friends for a while now) and he said “ ok… so what do I have to do?” “We’ll figure it out,” I said. That day after school, Brendon came over to my house and we made the plans. Brendon and I are becoming really god friends, and I hope it stays that way.
Today, it’s our first meeting and I hope it goes well. We started the meeting by introducing ourselves, and then we asked simple questions like: Where do you come from and how old are you? Brendon and I were shocked when we asked Ace why he joined and he said; “Because my friend joined” I came up with an idea, and idea that was so brilliant; it is better than Einstein’s theory. “Hey, so what is your interest in life?” I asked he replied and said “skateboarding is the life dude.” After that I had the perfect book for him. “Hey, this book is about two boys that start to skate and then they become champions, it’s a series” I said, curious to know what he would say. “Dude, that is rad!” he shouted, more excited than ever. I was happy because I helped someone and encouraged him to like reading. I am so happy and now I have lots of friends, because of mom. It…was awesome.

I will talk about two historical fiction reading strategies. The strategies are: are all the voices heard? And the other strategy is to get to know the main character by paying attention to their actions, words, and their relationship with other characters. I will be referring to the book Crispin, the cross of lead by Avi.
I used the strategy – are all voices heard – when Crispin said that he did not steal, and Lord Furnival claimed him a wolf’s head and sent John Aycliffe to kill him. I knew that Crispin’s voice was not heard and it won’t be because he is just a kid.
I used the strategy – get to know your main character by paying attention to their actions, words, and their relationship with other characters – when Crispin met Bear – a nickname for this man – and after a while Crispin was talking about god and being very religious and Bear was not so serious about religions so he got a bit mad. Also Bear made Crispin oath to be his servant, and after a while when they got to know each other better Bear did not treat Crispin like a servant, he treated him like a son. I now knew that Bear and Crispin will be together and work together to do things, I also knew that they would stick up for each other and when one of them is in danger the other will rescues him.

What do you think an explorer is? Do you think of traveling, finding something or even looking at the sea and discovering its features? Exploration is the act of looking into or studying something or someplace unknown. So is Criss Angel an explorer? Does he have the features of an explorer? Yes, because he finds ways to do things and he does dangerous things.
He finds new ways to do things. For example, John Cabot found a new route to America and Criss Angel found a way to walk across water. He walked across water from one side of a pool to the other side. The pool was deep, so he did not step on the floor of the pool. I partly disagree with it being fake because there was a video camera underneath the water filming every step he took, so you could see if there was something under the water. He found a new way to do that because other people did that but he did it again and it was more real and more efficient.
Another reason that he did things in a different way is that David Blaine levitated about 5 inches above the ground. But Criss Angel levitated from one building to the other in mid air. He had no harness or anything like that; well at least that is what I saw.
He did dangerous things. For Example Vasco Da Gama sailed into the ocean with no idea where he was or where he was going, with rumors that you will start to boil. And Criss Angel stood against a brick wall and a car drove straight into him, he flew straight through the wall, and he was fine. This makes me realize that it must of been a trick or he is just really strong. This might be true but on the other hand it could be that it was and illusion because he is stunt/ illusionist. Or it could just be a plain old stunt that had to be done perfectly or else he would have gotten hurt/ injured.
Criss Angel is an explorer because of his features, what he does and how he does it, so I think Criss Angel is an explorer. Do you think Criss Angel is an explorer?

On Wednesday the 18th of December my class and I went on a field trip to the Ancient City. We had to do a treasure hunt, first we had to chose who was who. I was the Navigator, and a navigator is an explorer because you are trying to find something (in this case a monument), we are also curious so we want to find out something (in this case where the monument is and where the treasure is).

This is a picture of one of the places that we had to stop at, the bucket of golden nuggets was hard to find and also the clue board. My group and I thought the other group hid it because the wanted to finish first.

This picture was taken on one of the mountains that we had to climb up. It was a temple. Idan, Gwen and I raced up the mountain, when we got to the top we were so tired, but there was a nice breeze.

The thing that will help you find a certain place in the book is the table of contents because if you have a book about Butterflies, and you want to find out what breeds there are you can see what page it is on. A glossary will help you find out words that you don’t know. The words will probably be highlighted. A way to help you understand the text is to relate to a picture. After about a paragraph look at a picture, and see what is the same. Another way is to write a summary or what you learned on a post-it after a paragraph. If you read something tricky or that you don’t understand, re-read the text.
