We did a really cool experiment this last few weeks.
Day 1-7
It was the brine shrimp experiment. First we 4 cups each had the same amount of water and the same amount of brine shrimp eggs, but different amounts of salt. There was one with 0 spoons of salt, 2 spoons of salt, 4 spoons of salt, and 6 spoons of salt. At first day 2 spoons of salt had hatched, but the next day 4 spoons had hatched more.
Day 8-10
On day 8 we decided to keep 2 spoons of salt and dump 4 spoons out to feed to the fish at the ponds in ISB. We added 100 ml of water to 6 spoons of salt and we added 4 spoons of salt to 0 spoons of salt. Also we seated up a cup with the same amount of water and the same amount of brine shrimp eggs, but we added 2 spoons of salt to it. On day 10 we had a 2 litter bottle with the top cut off. We put three different types of salt in the bottle. Then we added 1 litter of bottled water in the cup and we let it mellow.

Wow. Twist of fate on a table
Here is my favorite WWE superstar. Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy is a really high risk taker doing swanton bombs off ladders and poles. His best move is the twist of fate, stunning everybody who gets hit by it.
WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment. The superstars are trained performers. I like watching Jeff Hardy because he is highly skilled and it would take years for someone to perfect his moves in the wring. People think wrestling is dumb and boring, but it is not if you watch it you would change your mind.

Wang And The Sharks
“Now boys and girls your assignment today is to watch a show about killing of sharks for shark fin soup then tomorrow we will have a pop quiz on the program.” Mrs. Lee said.
“What channel will it be on?” Suzy said.
“ The National Geographic channel,” Mrs. Lee replied back.
“ What time will it be on?” Suzy asked AGAIN!!!!
“ 4:00 pm sharp,” Mrs. Lee replied back.
“RING RING.” Yes I’m saved by the bell.
“ Time to go class, oh and remember it’s at 4:00 pm sharp,” Mrs. Lee said as we walked out of the classroom.
Oh wait I forgot to introduce myself. Hi my name is Wang I’m 11 years old and I’m in 5th grade. I lived in Japan for my whole life. I walked to my bike. I put my helmet on hopped on my bike. I raced home to get my homework.
I ran in my home and went to my room. I had only 30 minutes to do my homework! I opened my homework folder. Thank goodness! It’s only a simple multiplication sheet. It was so easy all it was 2×2=4 and 6×6=36. I suddenly remembered that it was 3:58. In two minutes the shark program will be on. I ran down the stairs and landed on the couch with a plump. I reached for the remote and turned on the T.V. and went to the National Geographic channel.
“Today we are going in into amazing continent of Japan to learn about the killing of sharks.” The narrator began.
I glanced at the clock a whole 58 minutes have gone by. I’m still watching and I’m still bored. I thought this was going to be interesting.
“ Now remember if we don’t stop killing sharks then they will be extinct.” The narrator said as the program ended.
Wow! I can’t believe that sharks could be gone. On the one hand sharks sometimes attack people but sharks are really cool and they deserve to die. I turned off the T.V. and went to the office where my mom was.
“Hey mom I want to help save the sharks,” I said.
“Oh do you?” She asked.
“Ya.” I said back.
“What made you care about this problem?” She asked.
“Well I like sharks a lot and I don’t want them to be extinct.” I said.
“That is a social issue, I think you should help” my mom said
“I’ll be in my room thinking of ideas.” I said as I walked out of the room.
There I was in my room, alone except for the pencil and paper on my desk. My head was on the desk trying to think of anything. Have nothing. That blank piece of paper was staring me dead in the eye until an idea hit me straight in between my eyes. “That’s it will email the Prime Minister of Japan and tell him to tell every restaurant to stop selling shark fin soup! Wait a minute. That’s impossible nobody knows his email except for himself and his family. He’s the Prime minister and I’m just a little boy. Oh I got it for sure. I will buy every bowl of shark fin soup in the world. HAHAHAHAHA! I don’t have enough money and that they still have to kill sharks and that is the last thing I want to do. Now I got it, I will make a lot of posters with a partition on each of them where you can sign your name. Then I’ll send it to the president of Oishi. Then he will stop selling shark fin soup for good.” I said out loud.
I was working on my posters. I drew a bowl of shark fin soup on it with a big circle around it and a big line through it. The partition said “Please sign this partition to help save the sharks and not to make soup out of them thank you for your support,” I was done with my last poster. It was 6:30,man was I tired. My modo is the early bird gets the worm. I got ready for bed. I was so tired that when I was brushing my teeth I almost feel asleep. I crawled into my bed and feel fast asleep. I woke up at 5:15. I got ready for school by taking a warm shower, eating breakfast, and brushing my teeth. I grabbed my posters and went to school. I put up with permission from the principal.
“Now class remember tonight is the big grade 5 graduation, so bring your whole family,” Mrs. Lee said as we grabbed our stuff and left.
There I was backstage. I can’t believe this is happening. We were all waiting for them to call our names one by one.
“Suzy Poiling.” Mr. Wong said.
She walked out of the curtains and to Mrs. Lee. She got a diploma and walked to be the other students were.
“Wang Jing” Mr. Wong said.
I walked out the curtains and went to get my diploma. After everybody’s name got called we toke a big class photo. After the photos I went out side to see the posters. Dang!!!!! A lot of people signed my posters.
Wow I can’t believe over 1,000 people signed it. I toke down the posters and went home. When I was home I got ready for bed. In my bed I was thinking about my future about how I will change the world. Then I feel fast asleep. I woke up 11:00 and got changed. I didn’t care about breakfast or anything all I did was grabbing the pieces of paper and left. I was speeding down the road to Oishi. I ran into the door and went to the manager.
“Can you give this to the president of Oishi?” I asked
“Uh…okay,” He said.
I walked to my and road home.
Two days later the news paper came. It said: Little boy saves the sharks. I ran to my mom and dad.
“Read this!” I said.
“I’m very proud of son.” My dad said
“Me too,” My mom agreed.
I went to school very happily. Everybody wanted to be my friend and they wanted my autograph. I felt like Jackie Chan. So that is the end of my story.

I’m going to teach you about two strategies. The book I’m to refer to is called Crispin. The first strategy is build the world if the story in your mind by noticing all the details that make the characters life experiences different than your own. Asta’s son had no name back in the beginning of the book cause he was pour and pour people had no names but rich people had names in the begging of the book people called Crispin Asta’s son and he was 13. Now everybody has a name. My evidence is on page 2 it say “Asta’s son, come here” he said to me. Here is another on page 10 “Asta’s son” became my common name.
Here is another strategy readers examine the main character by walking in his or hers shoes, asking, “How would I feel?” When Crispin and Bear are walking through Great Wexly it says people were staring at them. I would feel like lets get out of here and uncomfortable. I inferred when the text said but though ear and I were strangers to Great Welxy –and I a wolf’s head –no one seemed to care, though they did glance at Bear, if only on account of his size. Then I inferred that they probably feel uncomfortable.
So remember to try this strategies when you read another book. Bye

Have you heard of John Cabot? John Cabot is one of the most important explorers of all time! He’s important because he discovered the north half of North America. He’s also important because he brought English to North America.
When he discovered the North half of North America he went back to England and told the king about his discovery. Then later after John Cabot got lost at sea they went to North America and lived there. If John Cabot didn’t discover the north half of North America, we would be speaking a different language.
Another example of his importance is if he wasn’t educated and did believe any of the tales of the Ocean Sea being inhabited by Sea monsters, then he wouldn’t want to explore, and somebody else would find the North half of North America. He didn’t mean to discover Newfoundland because he was actually on a race to the Indies. He thought the right direction was north instead of South because Christopher Columbus went South and landed on North America. He is important of what he discovered.
There are many important explorers but you got to admit that John Cabot is the most important explorer of all time. He’s important because he discovered the North half North America. He’s also important because he brought English to North America.

I was an explorer by finding treasures and I looked around inside buildings that I have never seen in my life. If I could go back, I would want to explore more of the temples and the buildings.

You can look at the picture to help you understand the text better because if you don’t know what the text says you can look at the picture to see what it is talking about.
You can use the table of contents to show you what you will learn about and to find the topic your looking for. You use it when you are flipping through a book for a certain topic.
You can use the glossary when you are stuck on a word that you don’t know the meaning of and don’t want to look through the dictionary look at the glossary. It is at the very back of a Non-Fiction book.

A Bad Day in Second Grade
I was at my desk doing my morning work and thinking about what we are going learn about in math. Then three kids walked into the room. Their names are Matt, Chad, and Danny.
“Hey look it’s the nerd of room 22,” said Matt. “Well at least I’m not a dummy like you,” I said in a whisper. “What was that,” Matt asked. “I said at least I’m not a dummy like you,” I said out loud. “Allen can you see me at my desk please?” Mrs. Azimika said. I walked to her desk with my head down. “Can you go to time out?” she asked. I walked to time out slow with my head down and everybody started staring at me.
When I was in time out I started to cry because it wasn’t fair that I was in time out because Matt started to call me a name and everybody started laughing at me. I wanted to go home and never go back to school.
